Installation

This suspended light sculpture consists of approximately 35 tubes of 600mm length and 60-80mm diameter, made of green uranium glass. In each of the tubes, there is a UV fluorescent lamp giving the glass its intense green and yellow signal light brightness. You certainly won't make a mistake by choosing work by this legend of Czech glassmaking. The combination of craftsmanship, contemporary design and uranium glass creates an unexpectedly intense experience. Uranium Figure had its premiere at the Signal Festival, where it lit up St. Martin's Church for four days. This installation will add a unique atmosphere to any space.

About artist

Honoured by many awards such as Red Dot Design or Good Design, Rony Plesl is currently working on big architectural and free form projects. His work is featured in many prestigious galleries in the Czech Republic and abroad. Since 2008 he is in charge of Studio of Glass Design at The Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Works for prestigious clients such as Barovier & Toso, the oldest family company in the world, or german concern SAHM. He was the art director of an exhibition for Cartier in Prague. In 2011 awarded The Best Designer by Czech Grand Design.
