  • Installation

Irideus Bulla stands for a glowing bubble. Czech artist Jan Kaláb has developed an unmistakable style of expression that has made him a world-renowned artist who has exhibited all over the world. The Irideus Bulla light installation draws on his previous works, but its size makes it his largest sculptural realization so far.

The object consists of 16 separate hoops that have LED strips along both of their edges (400m of LED strips in total length). The installation has a pre-programmed light sequence that is accompanied by music by composer Petr Kaláb. The dimensions of the installation are 8m x 5m x 5m.

About artist

Jan Kaláb is a Czech artist drawing from the creative roots of graffiti and street art. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He was one of the founding generation of writers, but gradually took visual culture from the street to prestigious gallery spaces across the world. Street facades and experimental work were replaced by painted canvases of various shapes of his own production. His work is accompanied by a constant exploration of new techniques and structures. Through geometric morphology, precise acrylic painting or layered surfaces, he embarks on an analysis of space within the classical painting. Jan Kaláb’s boundless commitment, joy in playful discovery and overcoming his own possibilities in the end lead him to innovate and remove genre boundaries.
